In Shanghai for the Week (Aug 8 – 16)
I’m back in China for a week August 8th till the 16th and wondering if anyone else is out in Shanghai this week? There are a few of us already meeting during the week for some good eats, good talks and maybe even some good fun

Manchester UK for the Weekend
Holiday time is in short supply but my good friend Mark finally had some time as he just finished teaching. So I booked a quick flight out to Manchester as after almost 10 years Mark and I will get to again share in an adventure.
Mark and I met while traveling around Europe & Africa and then later we traveled around Canada and the United States. So many stories about what we got up to will make the blog in the coming months while others will only live in our memories.
Philippines Boracay & Manila
I spent over 6 years right beside the Philippines but sadly only made it there once, this post was from my 2007 trip that took me to the capital Manila and to a very nice beach resort area called Boracy. It is reposted it its original format but with the addition of videos from the fun had in Boracay.
After a few eventful days and nights in the Philippines I am on the plane heading back to Singapore for my last couple days there. The Philippines was great and it was made even better by an incredible bunch of people.
Niagara Falls – Maid of the Mist
Great story from a quick trip to Niagara Falls, with some updated photos from the trip and some new comments in (brackets). Highly recommend spending some time in Niagara Falls.
Last weekend my buddy Troy and his Wife, who where on their honeymoon from Thailand stopped by Guelph and we decided to explore the region. This was my first time having guests in Guelph, so we headed up to Niagara Falls. This was the first time for Troy’s wife and me seeing Niagara Falls. Tory had been before but he was only a kid so it was a great new experience for us all.
Wedding in Belgium
Great story from the summer of 2007 about my buddy Steven getting married. I met and worked with Steven while living in Thailand.
What an interesting week I spent in Europe as my really good friend Steven (not me) was getting married. Since I travel around the world a lot this friend and I have something unique in that over the last 5 years we have seen each other and kept in touch regularly which is very rare for him and me (2 years later we still are keeping in touch, a record for me). But we both lived in Thailand and ended up working in the same ecommerce company, so even when I moved over to Singapore it was easy enough to get back to Thailand and say hi.
Thanksgiving in Cuba
Not American thanksgiving but the Canadian, which happens on the 2nd Monday in October. This story is from my 2007 thanksgiving, I have also updated a few things, enjoy!
Holidays for me often are not so much fun as usually I am far away from family, but this year for Thanksgiving I headed off to Cuba. Even going alone to Cuba it ended up being great as I’ve never been and had always wanted to go and see a true communist country in operation.
No-Ton that is Me!
I am happy to officially announce that I have been included in the history of Superman. In the most recent Superman novel The Lasts Days of Krypton the writer Kevin J. Anderson has included me “No-Ton” as one of the characters. I knew he was writing me in to be the scientist who takes over Jor-El (Superman’s father) scientific work when he was removed from his role in the government, but had no idea what my role would all become.

July 1st, 2009 Misc.info Launches!
Today all over Canada people are cerebrating, while not because of the launch of Misc.info but because 42 years ago Canada had its launch into being a country. As a proud Canadian I decided to launch Misc.info July 1st, 2009 (Canada Day) and while this site is not focused on Canada you’ll see some of my Canadian roots with the odd “eh” within its content.
